HAWKER ALBERT JOHN

Butcher aboard Mercantile Marine HMHS Llandovery Castle. The prewar ship of the Union Castle line was at first used as a troopship.

Died 27/6/1918 age 32 when the converted hospital ship was torpedoed by the German sub U86 off the coast of Ireland and lifeboats shelled killing 146 including 14 Canadian nurses.

TOWER HILL MEMORIAL.

Son of the late George and Selina Hawker and husband of Matilda Agnes of 334 Blandford Rd.
